Grits! Some love’em and some leave’em on the plate, lol. One of my favorite parts of breakfast is grits. And I am one that doesn’t mind having grits with any meal throughout the day. I know not everyone shares my passion for grits. But I came across this recipe from Carolinaheartstrings and it made all the difference. Now even the kids get excited in the fall when they see these on the breakfast plate.
Ingredients
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1/2 cup ground yellow grits
- 1/4 teapoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup coarsely chopped peeled apple
- brown sugar and cinnimon to garnish
Method
Step 1
In a medium saucepan over high heat combine the cider, grits, cinnamon and salt.
Step 2
Stir as it comes to a boil and then stir very frequently.
Step 3
When the cider is almost absorbed add the apples and keep stirring.
Step 4
Cook until the apples are mostly softened.
Step 5
Garnish with a sprinkling of brown sugar and cinnamon.
