Sourdough Starter – Day 3

Day 3 and my starter is looking a little different this morning. I hope you can see that it’s kinda foamy and bubbly this morning! It’s working! And take a whiff…you can now start to pick up faint sour notes in your starter.

I told y’all this would be easy…Day 3 you do exactly the same as yesterday.

1. Stir your starter a bit to reincorporate any liquids

.
2. Pour off 1/2 of your starter. Either discard or pour into another container. I am going to share a recipe for pancakes that you can use your discard in.

3. Add 1 cup flour and 1 cup water and stir it in really well…scraping down the sides of your jar/bowl as much as you can. You may have crusty, dried starter around the top of your jar if you’re like me and make a mess of it sometimes. It won’t hurt anything but feel free to transfer to another jar or bowl if you prefer. I transferred mine to a bowl because I think it will be easier to take pictures.

Add
Mix well
Cover and rest

4. Put your tea towel over it and leave it on the counter for 24 hours.

Day 3 is done, almost 1/2 way through the initial 7 days! Please share pics if you are playing along! I will make a separate post with the pancake recipe for anyone interested. You can find it here.
